Victorian Environmental Waste Services takes the clean and reliable collection of your waste very seriously. Our
operators will ensure that your waste storage site is left clean, and we wont miss a pickup, so you can be sure that
your waste management is in good hands.
Waste is generally classified in the following categories:
- Green Waste - such as grass, weeds, the results of pruning, tree limbs. Green waste should be stored separately,
and will be taken to an appropriate waste transfer station for disposal in an environmentally sound manner
- Paper & Cardboard Waste - ideally this should be stored separately so that it can remain clean and be
taken to an appropriate recycler.
- Glass, Metal and Plastic containers - many of these items can be recycled. If possible, separate storage of
these items makes the collection and recycling process most efficent and cost effective.
- Hard Rubbish - such as broken equipment. Depending on the type of items, this rubbish will be delivered to the
appropriate recyler for re-use or disposal.
- Putrescible and Non-Recyclable Wastes - such as food and other organic waste.
- Hazardous Wastes - such as paints and other chemicals. It is critical that these are collected and disposed
of according to the appropriate waste management legislation.
- commingle Waste - the past 30 years has produced a dramatic increase in the amount of packaging used in
supermarket items, convenience food etc resulting in a significant increase in waste. Traditionally, this waste
- including glass and plastic bottles and jars, milk cartons and juice boxes, aluminium and steel cans - has been
sent to landfill. A more environmentally friendly option is placing recyclables into a single bin, reducing the
amount of separation required, reducing contamination of recyclable materials, and taking the guesswork
out of deciding what goes where - this is called commingle waste.
